Swim Cap Chronicles: Newbie Struggles

I just got my second care package from Athletic Brewing, and it came with the coolest swim cap. I was so pumped! But as a triathlon newbie, I immediately had questions:

Do the letters go in the front or the back?
Are these supposed to cover your ears completely?
Does any of this even matter?
Seriously, where are the pros at? We need answers.

The fun of being new at something is figuring it all out, even if you feel a little ridiculous. I slid that cap over my head, and it felt like my skull got a bear hug. Super snug, but also oddly comforting. Meanwhile, I’m just trying to focus on not drowning, hoping all these little pieces come together one day.

Pro tip: laugh at yourself. That’s what makes this journey so fun. Enjoy the ride, go with the flow, and embrace the suck. If you see me in the pool rocking my gear wrong, please let me know. I’m not easily embarrassed, and constructive feedback is how we grow.

Before my swim, I did some solid shoulder rehab and dynamic stretches to warm up. Then I hopped into the pool with the enthusiasm of a beginner and the technique of someone trying to survive. I couldn’t help but watch in awe as two older swimmers next to me glided through the water like dolphins. It was inspiring and humbling all at once.

So, here’s to enjoying the process, showing up, and figuring it all out one swim stroke (and awkward cap adjustment) at a time. Life’s about learning, laughing, and growing. Dive in and embrace every moment!
